Welcome to our 'Get Support' website. This site is designed to help people who are concerned about their sexual thoughts or feelings about children.

We are committed to helping people who are troubled by their sexual thoughts and feelings towards children or young people to lead positive, responsible and fulfilling lives.  Whatever your situation, by visiting this site you have already taken a step in the right direction.  We want to support you, just as we have helped many others through our Stop it Now! Helpline.

It is important to mention that we do not collect any personal details or information of individuals who access this website, nor are we able to identify them. Like our Stop it Now! Helpline, this site is free, anonymous and completely confidential.

  • The first section of this site gives information about the facts around having a sexual interest in children, including terminology, treatment, what the law says about sexual crimes involving children and the potential consequences of sexually abusing a child.
  • The second section is the 'Self-awareness' section which aims to provide you with more clarity about your sexual thoughts and personal strengths.
  • The third section is the 'Self-help' section which is a series of modules designed to help you understand more about your sexual interest in children and how to manage these feelings.

We recommend that you work through these sections at your own pace and when you are feeling OK in yourself, and when you are feeling OK in yourself, as they can be hard-hitting.The content of these exercises is based on our experience of working with individuals who have experienced sexual thoughts about children, their feedback and suggestions.  We hope you find them helpful.

People get in touch with us for a variety of reasons. Some have been contacted by the police, while others may have sexually abused a child but have not yet come to the attention of the authorities.  Some people contact us because they are concerned about their sexual thoughts about children even though they do not believe they will act on them. If any of these situations apply to you, we recommend you call our Stop it Now! Helpline on 0808 1000 900.

A note of caution:

Some people who are concerned about their sexual thoughts about children may have a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder [OCD] which is characterised by intrusive sexual thoughts about children.  These individuals are not sexually aroused by these thoughts, which, instead, cause them extreme distress and anxiety. If this sounds like it might be true for you, we suggest you speak to your doctor.  The modules on this site are not designed to treat OCD.  You can read more about OCD here.
